This audio sermon is posted on our website with the kind permission of Muskoka Bible Centre. Dr. John Blanchard was a Christian evangelist, teacher, apologist, and author from Scotland. (One of his booklets is called “Ultimate Questions” and used widely in evangelism.) He ministered throughout the United Kingdom and internationally as well. This message was originally recorded at Muskoka Baptist Conference Monday, August 7, 1989, in the evening chapel service.

An extra note is written here because the title “What is Your Life?” might make one think that it’s an evangelical outreach message to the unchurched…But this one is a particularly-good audio for professing Christians of any age and of any church affiliation – Protestant, Catholic, charismatic, progressive, non-conformists, Anabaptists, etc. – in whatever kind(s) of ‘Christian group’.

Yes, a non-Christian could listen to it and likely find something in it to ponder. But the intended audience are those who are people who have been church attenders, understanding some of the Bible, and already knowing Jesus as God.  

At first when hearing the title, I thought this sermon would focus on the verses around James 4:14b which says – “For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” While that verse still fits, Blanchard’s message this time is based on another one instead.

This audio message clearly presents what a true Christian actually is, and how they should live in day-to-day life summed up.

Think you already know “how” to live because you’ve been a Christian for a long time? Think it’s a set of complicated rules to live by? Think topics like “what is a Christian” and/or “how are Christians to live” are just too confusing or subjective to know “for sure”?

“For to me to live is Christ” (Phil. 1:21a) – What did Paul mean by that??

This audio provides an excellent summary of the Christian life!!
